Small Studies

I’m really enjoying painting on wood panels as well as on paper, so I’m going to concentrate a little bit more on producing these little “sketches” on wood. I have to think that a painting on wood is a bit more desirable than one on paper, and a simple floating frame around a 16 x 20″ original would look fantastic. I plan on bringing an assortment of these paintings down to the Art Expo New York in a months’ time so we’ll see how people feel about them.

Another reason why I prefer to paint on wood panel is that I won’t have to incur the cost of having the paintings matted and shrink wrapped. I always get the best possible mattes and backing so it gets a bit expensive for me.

Here’s one of my latest, a small 16 x 20″ floral, entitled “Bunch 2”, acrylic on wood panel.
