Just came back from a quick visit to Toronto (I need to go back next week, as it happens!) and looking back at 2014 with some satisfaction, some regrets, some hopes for 2015.

Looking to perhaps doing more drawing of portraits, even some “plein air”, meaning painting on site in local settings to keep things fresh, spontaneous and exciting. This means quick studies in black paint and interpreting them further later in my studio where I can explore them more creatively. I get a bit tired of seeing paintings where artists blow up photos and trace them out with their paints, I love the imperfections and seeing how an actual drawing works much more, so we’ll see if I can’t do a few more of those.

Oh, I’ll have many more resolutions as they come along… just keep watching as I think this will be an interesting and fun year!
